SPR (Special Purpose Rifle) Course
Designed for using the popular accurized & scoped .223 rifles from long-range engagements at 900 yards to fighting through our shoot house engaging 5 yard threats.
This course allows for an easy transition from the standard M4 or AR15 style rifle that everyone is so familiar with. By using a weapon platform that so many students are familiar with, we are able to provide a gateway for those interested in being introduced to sniper training. If you have been looking for a way to get into sniper training without buying an expensive custom sniper rifle and without taking multiple weeks off of work… this course is for you!
This course is not a fancy name for a standard carbine course and these are not standard carbines. Our students consistently shoot these rifles accurately well past 900 yards. With less recoil than a typical .308 bolt action sniper rifle, students can really focus on marksmanship fundamentals and learn more in a shorter period of time. Then they can easily transition to up-close targets, engaging multiple targets from 5 yards or clearing corners and doorways with the same rifle!
Course Length: 3 days/30 hrs. This course will cover Rifle & Scope set-up, Marksmanship & Zero 25 to 200 yds, Range Estimation, Unknown Distance & Zero to 900 yds, Close Distance fighting, reactionary defensive shooting, Live-fire Clearing Corners & Doors.
Special Purpose Rifles are simply accurized AR15s. In order for an accurized AR-15 to be considered an SPR, the rifle needs to have a free-floated barrel with a tight twist (1:7 or 1:8 for .223), a tactical long-range scope (2.5-8x or 3-10x) on a flat top receiver, and preferably a match grade trigger.
