SNIPER 1 — BASIC SNIPER

This two-day course will cover:

  • Introduction to MIL/MOA

  • Introduction to the three types of ballistics
  • Introduction to range estimation

Prerequisites:  None

Open Enrollment. Military-only or Law Enforcement-only courses are available by special request – these courses contain special  learning objectives, training techniques, and final exercises tailored to military or law enforcement needs and missions.

Fee: $750 ($675 for Active Cowtown Range members, Military, Law Enforcement, and GSA students)

Prerequisite:  Sniper 1

Fee: $500 ($450 for Active Cowtown Range members, Military, Law Enforcement, and GSA students)

Prerequisites:  Sniper 1 and Sniper 2

Note: This course is for Military personnel and government contractors only

Fee: $950 ($855 for active Military government contractors, and GSA students)

HUNTING CLINIC

This one-day course will cover:

  • Establishing 100-yard “Hunter’s Offset Zero” for 200- or 300-yard zero
  • Moving quickly from full-carry mode to different shooting positions
  • Effective shooting positions for the individual hunter
  • Shooting accurately from different positions
  • Selecting hides and overlook positions for prolonged periods and shooting accuracy
  • Holdovers or come-ups out to the maximum ethical and practical hunting range
  • Spotting for another hunter
  • Loading and gear for a quiet hike
  • Shooting apps and field data cards for hunters
  • The effects of altitude and temperature on trajectory and range
  • Glassing and spotting
  • Tracking and route selection

PRECISION RIFLE – Private Instruction

This one-day course is ideal for individuals, couples, or small groups of up to four persons with busy schedules, or that prefer a program designed specifically for their individual training goals. The course is taught in a relaxed, congenial style designed to put the student at ease in order to facilitate a productive and enjoyable learning environment. There are no prerequisites  – this private course starts where you are and builds from there.

Students have the flexibility to customize the duration of the course, but the minimum recommended class length is three hours (up to a maximum of 8 hours).  Topics are flexible, but typically include basic to advanced precision shooting fundamentals; ranging, scope adjustments and holdovers, spotting and wind corrections, dope books, and field data cards. Distances range from 100 to 900+ yards. Beginners to advanced shooters benefit from this course because it’s customized to your specific needs and goals, and you progress at your own pace.

Fee: $600 per student per day

SNIPERS 1 – 4

  • AMMO (REQUIRED)
    • 100 Rounds per day (Note: Match grade required, .308 caliber minimum 168 grain / 175 highly recommended, 6.5 Creedmoor minimum 140 grain)
  • RIFLE SYSTEM (RIFLE WITH OPTIC)
    • Required:
      • Minimum caliber of 5.56/.223, maximum caliber 300 WinMag
      • Capable of at least 1 MOA of accuracy
      • Scope with at least 3.5X – 10X magnification range with exposed target style turrets (Note: prefer in Milliradian)
      • Scope associated tools for fasteners and owner’s manual
      • Bipods, capable of left/right cant adjustments
      • Rifle data book (Note: Can be substituted with notebook)
      • Rear shooting support
      • Rifle cleaning kit/tools
    • Optional:
      • Sling
  • PERSONAL ITEMS
    • Required:
      • Appropriate clothing for weather (Note: Long sleeves, pants, technical clothing preferred)
      • Appropriate footwear (Note: No opened toe shoes, durable/comfortable boots preferred)
      • Individual hydration system or water bottle (Note: Range does NOT have potable water on site)
      • Backpack / Rucksack, big enough to carry all items
      • Notebook with mechanical pencils
      • Cellphone or tablet with Hornady app or calculator
      • Ear and Eye protection

    • Ghillie suite / face paint (Sniper 4 Only)
